The National Bureau of Investigation arrested a former police officer allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade and seized P6.9 million, shabu, and high-powered firearms in his residence in Sampaloc, Manila Wednesday.
PO2 Jolly Aliangan did not resist arrest when agents of the NBI Anti-Illegal Drugs Division, armed with a search warrant, swooped down on his three-story house in Manila.
The NBI agents seized an undetermined quantity of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), drug paraphernalia, and a fake car license plate. The P6.9 million cash was found inside a vault. The high-powered firearms were found in a small armory under the stairs of the house.
Aside from Aliangan, the NBI also arrested Jeffrey Gutierrez, an alleged informant of the suspect.
The NBI will also investigate Aliangan’s wife after she flushed down some of the shabu in the toilet.
Aliangan was transferred to the Anti-Illegal Drugs unit of the National Capital Region after being assigned to the Manila Police District.
According to the NBI, Aliangan was pointed by a drug lord whom they arrested recently.
Aliangan denied any wrongdoing, insisting that he was innocent.
The Philippine National Police will conduct a lifestyle check against Aliangan, considering that he owns several new cars and a big house.
PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor said that it would be hard to explain how Aliangan was able to acquire such properties based on his monthly salary of only P23,000.
Aside from criminal charges, an administrative case will be filed against the suspect.
